Advatising

photography in advertising is very common because a audience wants to see there buying before they buy it advertising photography can also be known as Commercial photography, this  involves taking pictures for commercial use:
for example in adverts, merchandising, and product placement.
Commercial photography is also used in corporate brochures and leaflets, menus in cafes and restaurants, and similar commercial uses where photographs enhance a text.
Commercial photography is used to promote or sell a product or service

. There are a number of ways that photographs can be used to better market products and corporations.
For photographers who excel at commercial photography, it can be a very lucrative market, and the field of commercial photography is broad, with room for traditional and alternative photographs.

Photography is the single most important element of most advertising campaigns. While copywriters may spend hours producing an eye-catching headline and copy that explains the benefits of a product, it’s the image that first attracts the viewer. It’s also the last thing the viewer usually remembers after turning the page.

Advertising images may be used on billboards and in magazines, on posters and on flyer's. They may be straightforward depictions of a product or a model — or they could incorporate complex graphics and use the very latest post-production techniques to show that the company is on the leading edge.
In any of these scenarios, planning is vital.ad1ad2

the history of the photographic portrait

The portrait history and timeline

in the begining of the portrate they where done in paint and they where usaly only created for reliouse perpouses for exarmple of criste and god and saints these where usely done for chirches this was becouse they where ment to show the hightst respected and where used in churches to tell stories and bits of the bibel becouse alot of the people who went to church at the time where not able to read so picturs where alot easyer to show what the prist was talking about meany portrates of these bibel stories are still incherches and gallerys

( piero della ,francesca, 'baptisem of crist ' 1445)

 roail portraits

a while later in history roalyty and arrastocratey or thouse of hight states  started to get there portrates painted to show there welalth and to presuve there meomory and wealth thro out time most of these portates portrayed the subjected with a siriouse face this was becouse it was verry exsensive and they wanted to seem seriouse and powerful he has lots of exsensive jewrey, clothing and other metirial things

(holbein, king, henrt VIII , 1536)                                            (prince ocsar I of sweden)

 renaissance piriod

alfter the craze of rolity there was the renaissance piriod ,during the renaissance ( around 1400 to 1600) there was a grate revival in litriture ,sciance and art
'ordanary' wealthy people started to get there portrates done becouse it was less of a states thing and more of a pride and avalibilatey thing this ment that there was alot more portrates being comitioned at this time
an exarmple of this is (leonardo da vinci,la giocondan (mona lisa) 1503-6)
See adjacent text.

by the 18th centray in britan 'anyone who was anyone '
or anyone who had money at the time decided to have their portrait made
portrates suggested welth and statas and meny more where comitioned to
show there legacey to there childern as well but meny protrates showing some untrue things to protected the subjects feelings and becouse the painter my be accused of painting someone in the rong way

(tomas gainsborough,mr and mrs andrews 1748-9)

The start of the photograth

the first permanent photograph was made in 1837
this was disscoverd and used becouse a photograph could capture a moment a painting couldent
the painters then becam less importent and also more exspencive as a photograth could be used alot easyer and also the subjected did not have to wait hourse in a position only minets in the begining as tecnoligey advanced the time became shorter fot the subjected to pose and this opend a world for a photograther to be able to take picturs of motion and also of moments that a portrate could never capture

phtos started in black and wight becouse the tecknoligey to make them coloured was not invented yet this photograth is quit posed becouse it would have had a long shutter speed rather than than the sitter exspesing anything about there personalitey the photograther has had to directed the subject in order to get a good qualitey imagey becose the movment is not detected

however in this image due to tecknical advances the photograther has been able to capture a fleeting monent which captures more of the boys chariture and relationships it looks more natrual

what happend to the portrait alfter photography came in ?

when photograths became more popular and more avalibel painters found it hard to get meny liveing portrait jobs so meany went and becam photographers meny artists whowanted to continue painting now started to experament by protraying the world in new and diffrent ways for exarmple the new art movments
like the expeshionists , sariisum , cubisum and futurisum

(edvard munch,the scream,1893)
the painting the scream shows that there is a subjected
but this subjected  dose not  look human
they look like they are screaming also this is verry abstracted
and diffrent from the convenchanal protrat

this style is more impretionist and it is a self portrate so probelbly done in a mirro
or it could be done by takeing a photograph and then painting it this was a new teckneack some painters took on becouse it was easyer to copy a photograth than makeing a subjected sit while they paint them

moden photograthy

as moden photography became more popular the convetinal portrate became less popular and the photographer became more of a artist and made more of an impacted takeing photos for diffrent reasons to document ,to advertise ,to create a thought ,to show a certen reaction of these reasons and more are why lots of painters stopped painting and picked up the camera as technology moved on colour was introduced to the pictures and this almost gave them a different dimension firstly with one in to the photo then different colours within the same pictures . the photographer started to use different colour erent angels and lights to get more of a interesting photo.

example of how one colours has been introduced this affected is called CPR both of these pictures are of marlin monro
this is a more modern photo taken by a photographer called matt smith
its a close up of just hiss head and he has used the rule of thirds to give it a more exciting look also the picture is in complete focus the subjects eyes are the main focus of the pice with there vibrant blue colour they look almost piecing  the subjects gaze is towards the camera making us feel like were seeing in to his sole or as if his eyes are meant to tell a story

different angels used for example this is a low shot as she is in the top corner giving room for her hair to hang in the photo

My Photograph

this portrait shows more than just her it shows her feelings thro her exspretion and also the atmosefear of this pictur gives it a feeling of beeing with nature and with the light behind her head dress it makes you feel like the light was meant to shine there Evan though it is not posed and she was a Friend at a festival who was naked walking around she seems unfazed by all of what is going on around her and with her gaze at her feet makeing her seem almost humble to the earth or nature with the light behind her giving her a outline from the sky and trees the flag in the back round really executes the point I'm makeing with the green that maches the trees and the sky that just gives a natral butie to this picture.
this picture was taken on the 7 of aurgust 2012
photographer yasmina aouane
name of pice : humbel nater with pure butie

portraiture;similarities and differences

portraiture : simerlatiteys and diffrences

when looking at a portrate there are sertan things you notice for exarmple whos in it, where are they, why are they there, what are they looking at and how the photographer has taken the picture . these qustions are what come in to your head when you se a portrate and each one is diffrent i have chosen a selection of picturs by diffrent photographers some listed others not each of these pictures intested in and make me think of diffrent things , the pictures made me feel diffrent emotitions but some that are not the same at all with meny diffrent feachers made me feel a simerler way .

this portrait i was relly intrested in becouse i was curiouse on what the subjected is looking at ,her expretion dose not give away any sort of emotion .
the deph of field in this photo is the key becouse she has a crisp out line around her face which shows that it has picked her up but the back round is verry blurred the focas is on her head .
the photograper has chosen to have this portrait in black and wite this can sometimes give the affected that the picture is old but in this case it dose not it look moden and egey ,this is why i chose this portrate

© Dougal Waters, 2012this portrate invockes feelings of pureatey
and innercence about her with her natrall skin and pink lips her face is the main focas of the picture and it is her cheack and eye and lips that stand out to the arudiance as her face almost melts in to the wite sheroundings .i belive the photographer wanted to play on the natural buotey n her face but only a pice of it so he cut the other pices out

© Paul Winter, 2012anoth photograph havey on the eyes the dard colours are a indercater that this photo is to exspress a feeling or mood in this case i feel it is tence and focased the subjected in the photograph is look down at something makeing it look like he is concentrating this is verry difficult to photograph with the colours in his eyes i think this might have been edited and the skin toached up on photoshop to give it this clean look .

http://if.the-aop.org/SD_memlist_full.php?id=03182&n=Paul Winter&x=&w=http://www.paulwinter.co.uk&s=&number=6

this portrate is diffrent to ment odf the others becouse when looking at this one you get a dark mood to it bacouse his eyes are nearly all blacked out this gives you the impretion thay he is in some blinding light this creates a verry intresting shadow

Icon for anon :3
this is one of my favreat portraits i have chosen becouse it shows how the subjected doent always have to be the center of the attenttion in the phototgraph in this the deph of fild is really showing which parts to look at for exarmple the focase is on her hand and the sparkerler this makes the photograph more intrsting and what is happerning seem more importent

what is fine art photograthy ???

Fine art photography
refers to photographs that are created in accordance with the creative vision of the photographer as artist. Fine art photography stands in contrast to photojournalism, which provides a visual account for news events, and commercial photography, the primary focus of which is to advertise products or services.this eans it is mostly about the photographer vition or crativeitey on the photo alot of 'fine art' art work is of nude people or historical avents but this dse not mean that it is a document you can trust becouse the photographer has used this avent to create a photograph they want like a painter would paint the photographer has to capture these avents . lots of fine art photographs have real creative vistion so you can see exactly what the photograapher wants you to feel thogh the photograth .

Alfred Stieglitz's photograph The Steerage (1907)
was one of the first works of artistic modernism.
Stieglitz was notable for introducing fine art photography into museum collections

this photograph shows a ship being loaded or being unloaded and lots of people on the  top of the ship who are looking down on the servants or people who are lower than others in the working wourldthis is a statas photo showing who is ighter up in the would this was used to show how ships would work . i think this photographer was trying to show hoe the servants where so much lower than the other people.

what is documentary and what is it in photograthy ???

documentary photography
usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle significant and historical events. It is typically covered in professional photojournalism, or real life reportage

it may also be an amateur, artistic, or academic pursuit. The photographer attempts to produce truthful, objective, and usually candid photography of a particular subject, most often pictures of people.

Documentary photography generally relates to longer term projects with a more complex story line, while photojournalism concerns more breaking news stories. The two approaches often overlap

Since the late 1970s, documentary photography has increasingly been accorded a place in art galleries alongside fine art photography. Luc Delahaye, Manuel Rivera-Ortiz and the members of VII Photo Agency are among many who regularly exhibit in galleries and museums.

Migrant Mother,
a famous photo by Dorothea Lange, taken during the Great Depression.

this photograph shows the desperation and worry of this migrant mother with her two children on her shoulders many crying it is unclear ,the focus of this woman and her aged by worried face in her plain drab riped and old clothing and her shoulders being bared upon by her children the photo is in black and wight
this photo has been taken to show the affected on this woman from the grate depression it represents a hole nation of people suffering and how it affects the whole family .

often used in the news to show the truth about a storey in photo form because it is more affective to a audience when shown in photo form for evidence .

what is fasion and what is it in photograthy ?

Fashion :
is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, or furniture. fashion can also be associated with dressing a person up to show new styles and trends to show 'fashion' .usally associated with clothing but can be used as a trend
'if something is fashinabel'

Photograthy in Fasion .

Fashion photography has been in existence since 1839. There was always the existence of fashionable dress, but the idea of taking photographs to help sell clothing and accessories had just come into play. Fashion photography is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Elle. Over time, fashion photography has developed its own aesthetic in which the clothes and fashions are enhanced by the presence of exotic locations or accessories.

At the beginning of the 20th century, fashion magazines began to include photographs of various fashion designs and became even more influential on people than in the past. In cities throughout the world these magazines were greatly sought-after and had a profound effect on public clothing taste. Talented illustrators drew exquisite fashion plates for the publications which covered the most recent developments in fashion and beauty. Perhaps the most famous of these magazines was La Gazette du Bon Ton which was founded in 1912 by Lucien Vogel and regularly published until 1925 (with the exception of the war years).

some websites i have looked at for exarmples are the voge magisean websight :

underneath this ^ is said to show the photographer of this photograph, of Kristen Stewart
in a interesting position perhaps she is waiting for someone ,
the focus of the picture is Kristen Stewart and the clothing she is in.
this photograph has been photoshoped or has used a smiler program to 'toach up' miss Kristen Stewart skin and clothing to give it the air brushed look this is used alot on photograph's in big magazines so there models look almost flawless  also to show perfection in there beauty .
the clothing is shown as much as possibly to advertise the designer .
the colours that stand out in this photograph are the blue of her earring and the pink of her bra these stand out against her dark hair and her pail skin , this is enhanced by the dark red of her lips and the golden yellow of her jacket .
in the background of the photo wight patterned wall with golden pieces of bathroom rack for towls and lights which give a Royal or upper class to the photograph showing the message that she is classy but yet the clashing colours show her braking free from the plain (the back wall ) and the look in her eyes show she is looking at something that has disappointed or disrupted her.
